Italy renewed on Saturday its commitment to Libya to set up a special partnership to confront illegal immigration. The Italian Embassy in Tripoli said that the commitment is a result of the meeting of Rome, which was set up to provide new options for the development of Libyan municipalities affected by illegal migration. The Italian capital of Rome is hosting talks, which included the Italian Interior Ministry and representatives of municipalities in southern Libya as part of efforts to combat illegal immigration.

The Illegal Immigration Agency (IIA) announced on Saturday that the first group of illegal immigrants of Moroccan nationality are to be repatriated to their country. The head of the Media Office in the IIA, Husni Buayana, confirmed that the first flight would include 52 Moroccan immigrants to be deported via Mitiga International Airport on an Afriqiyah Airways flight. Human Rights Solidarity stated on their official Facebook page on Saturday that Moroccan migrants were on hunger strike at the Sika Road Detention Center of the Illegal Immigration Agency.

A source from Dignity Operation announced the reopening of Karsa road leading to Derna and the continuing prevention of the entry of goods and livestock to the city. The source said that according to the instructions of the Operations Room of Omar Mukhtar, the coastal road will be open to the citizens from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm, but all vehicles loaded with any kind of goods or livestock will be prevented from entering the city.

The Medical Mission accompanying the Libyan pilgrims to Hajj complained of an acute shortage of specialized medicines needed for pilgrims. The Ministry of Health said on their Facebook account that pilgrims had to buy medicines from pharmacies in the vicinity of Mecca.

A meeting of the General Electricity Company with the operators of the Sirte Steam Power Station, including representatives Korean company Hyundai and the Turkish company JAMA, will be held Sunday at the Sirte station. The meeting will discuss the return of the companies to construct the remaining parts of the steam station project, which was halted due to the fall of the station into the hands of ISIS in 2014, which led to the departure of foreign companies in charge of the project.

An armed group from Zintan, affiliated with the Petrol Facilities Guard in the western region, closed the El Feel, Hamada and Sharara valves on the oil transport lines to the north in protest against what they described as poor living, service and humanitarian conditions. The group, led by Gurj tribe, confirmed that they also plan to shut down Wafa oil field if their demands are not met. Oil sources have confirmed that the group had closed the valve in protest against the arrest of the brother of one of their group leaders in a criminal case by the Special Deterrent Force in Tripoli.

A Coast Guard patrol has arrested a Liberian-flagged tanker named Levant on Sunday with a crew of 20 Filipino nationals. The Coast Guard did not give further details about the operation, pledging that details will be provided after investigations are completed.

Tajoura suburb of Tripoli saw the launch of the Western Region Beach Football Championship on Saturday. The Beach Football Committee of the Libyan Football Federation organized the championship and eight clubs were registered from Sindbad, Sabratha, Surman, Janzour, Khoms, Tajoura, Jamiya and Siyahiyah. The Eastern Region Championship will be held in the first week of September, and the players of the Libyan team will be selected from the best players of the two championships.
