Interior Security Force in Al-Marij city arrested a radio personality – Hussein Rajab – who works at Al-Marij Radio for criticizing an order by the eastern military governor Abdelraziq Al-Nathori about banning foreigners from working at bakeries, shops and groceries to allow Libyans to work in their places.

The Congolese Football Federation has submitted a formal request to the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) to change the venue of their match against Libya on October 5 for the 2018 World Cup qualifier to a country other than Tunisia.

The Libyan Football Federation (LFF) has granted permission to the Libyan Sports Channel (LSC) to direct and produce Premier League football matches. The LFF has also given the go-ahead to the LSC to unlink the TV signal to the three channels that submitted official requests to the federation for rights to air the league, even before the official signing with Libya Sports Channel, which is due next week.

Mayor of Sabha, Hamad Khaiali, has held a meeting with the Director of the Water Company and Director of the office of Sewage Services in the city. The meeting discussed sewage problems that have worsened in the city as a result of the treatment plant becoming out of service approximately one month ago. The Director of Water Company pointed out that the suspension of the treatment plant caused the blocking and subsequent closing of the agricultural road which is used by the local farmers and caused a local environmental disaster.

The Sudanese Foreign Minister, Ibrahim Ghandour, has confirmed that his country’s borders were not closed with the neighbouring countries. This comes in response to reports by the media on the closure of the Sudan border with its neighbours including Libya. Ghandour said the Sudanese authorities had been ordered to tighten border crossings through which weapon smuggling and drugs or human smuggling is on the rise.

The head of the management committee of the Brega Oil Marketing Company, Masoud Al-Laqa, has appealed to southern region officials, deputies, mayors, dignitaries, and the security services of the Ministries of Defense and Interior to intervene urgently to protect fuel trucks destined for the southern region. This comes after the theft of six fuel trucks on Wednesday. Al-Laqa warned that these continued incidents could result in a complete stop in supplying the southern region with fuel, which will increase the suffering of citizens in the region.

The director of Sabha Airport, Mohammed Ohaida, said on Friday that vital installations at the airport did not suffer any damage due to the shelling by unknown assailants. Mortar shells of unknown origin fell on the vicinity of the airport on Friday. Security forces are still searching for the source of the mortars.

The Tunisian Union for Private Hospitals has revealed in a statement that the total debt accumulated by the Libyan state in private clinics amounted to 200 million Tunisian dinars. The union appealed to the Tunisian Prime Minister and Minister of Social Affairs to hold an urgent meeting to discuss measures that could be taken to solve the crisis and save the private health sector from collapse. The union said in a statement that the private health sector of Tunisia is threatened with bankruptcy and many clinics threatened to close their doors due to debt and the inability to secure the entitlements of workers.

Algeria has violated the Libyan territory, the head of the General Directorate of Desert Patrols in the southern and western branch, Khaled Dranbeh, has revealed. He disclosed that the Algerian army had penetrate the Libyan border and destroyed Libyan checkpoints. Dranbeh said he had reported and called on Libyan officials to put an end to these abuses and stop the power struggle that is causing damage to the homeland, pointing out that he had informed all concerned parties in the Presidential Council, the Interim Government and members of the House of Representatives on the current status of the situation, but he did not receive any reply.

The General Union of Air Transport announced in a letter to the Director General of Misrata International Airport that employees of the Libyan company for Ground Handling Services at Misrata Airport have decided to begin a strike, which will result in the complete shutdown of the airport as of Sunday, September 17. The strike will commence as a result of salaries not being paid for 16 months according to the letter.

Unknown assailants have destroyed lighting poles at the entrance to the town of Brak Shati, 75 km north of the city of Sabha. Human rights activist, Hamed Swesi, said on Friday that the aim of the vandalism is to steal and sell copper wires. Swesi called on security personnel and concerned parties to investigate and arrest the thieves and bring them to justice.

The Libyan Red Crescent (LRC) has recovered 13 decomposed bodies of Egyptian workers who entered the country illegally on the outskirts of the eastern city of Derna. The LRC said in a statement Friday that the bodies were covered with sand after they had apparently died due to hunger and thirst in the remote area of Libya. The statement added that the Egyptians were among a group of illegal immigrants that entered Libya last month. Earlier, a military patrol found 16 bodies of immigrants in the area of Burdy near Tobruk, bringing the total victims of migration to 29 in one week.
