The National Oil Corporation (NOC) has announced that Al-Sara oilfield’s output in Ajakhara district has dropped to 50.000 barrels per day (pbd) over local protests and a dispute with the German Oil Company - Wintershall.

The Libyan Special Deterrent Force (SDF) in Tripoli has arrested the Italian businessman, Giulio Lolli, for unknown reasons related to Libyan judicial cases, according to Italian judicial sources reported by the Italian news agency, Aki.

Brega Oil Marketing Company announced Friday that it had taken extraordinary steps to combat the crisis of cooking gas shortages as part of their responsibility to distribute fuel and gas throughout the country. The company also confirmed that the main cause of the cooking gas shortage crisis is unsafe cylinders, which were illegally imported by private businesses and contrary to laws and legislation in force, forcing the company to seize a large number of them for the safety of citizens.

Protesters in Derna called Friday on all concerned authorities, both nationally and internationally, to bring to justice those responsible for the recent airstrikes and to protect civilians from a similar future bombing campaign, as well as lifting the siege and opening all roads and seaports without preconditions. The protesters appealed to the United Nations Mission in Libya and human rights groups, inviting them to visit Derna and see the living conditions, humanitarian needs and general health of people in the city.

The Kidney Department at Ghat General Hospital was reopened on Thursday after closing a few days earlier. A hospital official said that the department returned to work after the arrival of the much needed operating materials and the arrival of maintenance technicians to repair any faulty equipment. The hospital suffers from a severe shortage of medicines and medical supplies, and has had only one specialist doctor for over a year, with the exception of some voluntary medical convoys that visit the city from time to time.

The Libyan Football Federation has chosen stadiums in Emsaad in the east and Zuwarah in the west to play the two matches of the quarterfinals that will determine Libya's representatives in the African Champions League and African Confederation Cup, to be held on the 16th of this month. The Libyan Football Federation stated on its official Facebook page that the draw for the matches will be held in a later time and hinted that the final match will be held at the Emsaad stadium if the Tahady and Al-Ahli Benghazi teams qualify. Otherwise, the final match will be held at a Misratan stadium in the event that Al-Ahli Tripoli and Itihad qualify. If a team from Tripoli and the other from Benghazi qualify, then a raffle will be held to choose the stadium for the final match.

Italian authorities announced on Friday that Libya`s current situation is one of their main priorities in their monthly presidency of the UN Security Council. Italian media outlets reported that the Italian Foreign Minister Angelino Alfano will chair two sessions of UNSC in presence of the Secretary-General of the United Nations and his Special Envoy to Libya. The first session will discuss international issues and the Libyan situation, while the other one will discuss security challenges in the Mediterranean.

Khoms Municipality will host the second meeting of the Libyan World Heritage Municipalities on Saturday. The five municipalities, Shahhat, Khoms, Sabratha, Ghadames and Ghat, will discuss the challenges facing these cities, their monuments and ways to preserve them under the current situations. It was decided that the temporary presidency of the union should be handed from Shahhat to Khoms. The five municipalities, which are classified as UNESCO World Heritage sites, have already established an association among the councils and meet periodically to discuss the protection of antiquities and their preservation from theft and sabotage.

A meeting was held between the High Council for Reconciliation in Libya and the General Union of Libyan Students in Tripoli on Thursday morning to discuss the views of all groups and segments of society. This meeting comes as part of a series of meetings designed to bring civil society organizations together with unions and NGOs. The many layers of society discussed different points of view and the idea of a united national conference was put forward, an idea that was recommended by the UN envoy to Libya Ghassan Salame in preparation for the future steps in the Libyan political dialogue.

The British Ambassador to Libya, Peter Millett, has declared that the British Embassy is due to resume diplomatic activities in the capital Tripoli after a three-year suspension. The British embassy's political advisor, John Morgan, also confirmed that his country's embassy is preparing to resume work from Tripoli. Morgan added on Twitter that more details on this subject are soon to be disclosed.
