Local media outlets reported that a fire broke out in Ghani oilfield after thieves had sawed a pipeline using a chainsaw. A worker at the field said the fire broke out Thursday and firemen from nearby oilfields in western Sirte helped put it out. Many Libyan oilfields have been subjected to looting and vandalism over the last years due conflicts and clashes between armed groups.

Peace Gallery for dates and honey was opened on Thursday in Misrata in the presence of the city’s mayor and others officials as well as residents. The mayor hailed the opening of the gallery and the efforts leading to the event, saying there should be more attention paid to these products. Many farmers, companies and organizations also attended the gallery, especially from southern Libya, where this kind of production is abundant.

The General Electricity Company of Libya (GECOL) said its CEO Ali Sassi visited Algeria the last few days and met Algerian electricity sector officials, thus signing a deal that activates the electric power linkage project between Algeria and Libya. GECOL added that the deal could use the expertise of Algerian companies in service works at Libyan power plants as well as in resuming the suspended projects.

The Head of the Political Agreement Amendment Committee of the High Council of State Mousa Faraj said Friday that their latest decision at the HCS meeting was not a total rejection of Ghassan Salame’s amendments’ proposal but it was “a note on the structure of the proposal” saying selecting the Presidential Council members by the House of Representatives alone as per Salame’s initiative is a grip on power and political as well as security and economic authorities in Libya. Regarding the early elections proposal, Mousa said it was an initiative that was sent to the legal commission for review.

The Italian ambassador Giuseppe Perrone said Friday that if there is unified armed forces in Libya, there will be a sustained stability in the country. Perrone added at the Rome-hosted Mediterranean Dialogue that his country aims to support reconciliation in Libya in both political and military levels, adding that Libya is still going through recurrent military conflicts despite the political process that is going on under the auspices of the UN and the international community. He added that military leaders did not partake in the national dialogue and the political dialogue was incompletely implemented.

The Libyan interior minister Aref Al-Khouja said they had opened the door for all international and African organizations to come to Libya and check on the conditions of the illegal immigrants. He added in a presser in Tripoli Thursday that they are probing the salve auctions allegations and any violations done by human traffickers. “We’re waiting for the results of the investigations, then we will bring the perpetrators to justice.” He added, hailing the efforts of the illegal immigration apparatuses in Libya for their efforts.

UN envoy to Libya Ghassan Salame said Friday that Libyan municipalities should have an essential role in the country, adding that the local governing is a very effective way to end division in Libya, according to UNSMIL’s website. Salame said in a meeting with municipal and university representatives that he is working on a plan that could see the training of the municipal staffers in EU countries. He also said that focusing on Libyan people “all people” is vital “not only the politicians” will be helpful in Libya.

The House of Representatives’ member for Sidra district Amer Omran said Libyan oilfields and terminals are occupied by African mercenaries and “ignorant persons” who are looting the resources of Libya, adding that some of those areas were turned to IS bases. “All oilfields are destroyed and looted despite reports that they were reopened and resumed production." He added. He also criticized the NOC for confining its job to purchasing fuel, saying it has become an individual sector winning fake prizes after it had been for decades a national oil firm.
