Al-Ittihad and Al-Tahadi football teams have qualified for the final of the quadruple round that will define Libya’s teams’ participation in this season’s CAF sports events.

An eight-year-old boy was abducted in Benghazi on Friday. Abdul-Raof Al-Ojali was abducted by an unknown group in front of his house in Hai Salam district. The boy’s relatives said the kidnappers had demanded a 2 million dinar ransom for his release, which the family could not provide. His fate is still unknown. His father, Ali, is the head of Benghazi Reconstruction Committee, which was formed by Benghazi Municipality in collaboration with the military governor Abdul-Rizzaq Al-Nadori.

The Governor of the parallel Central Bank of Libya in the east region, Ali Al-Hibri, has called for an urgent meeting of officials of both central banks of the country to change the official exchange rate of Libyan dinar against the dollar to 6 dinars. Al-Hibri told Libya Al-Hadat TV on Thursday that the proposed change would resolve the crises of the country and provide cash to the banks. He also proposed a gradual reduction in the exchange rate against the dollar to settle at 3 dinars instead of the current bank rate, which is 1.370 dinar. The proposal comes as the price of the dollar in the black market has neared LYD 10 dinars, which would increase the daily suffering of people.

Tripoli-based Minister of Transport, Milad Matouq, has given the go-ahead to resume flights to/from Sabha Airport in south Libya after more than three years of closure. The instructions were given during the minister’s meeting with officials of the Civil Aviation Authority and local airliners on Thursday. The meeting also reviewed the possible ways to protect the airport and prevent and security violations.

The British Ambassador to Libya, Peter Millett confirmed the continued support of his country and the international community for the Presidential Council (PC) and his government on Thursday. Millett stressed during a meeting with the Vice President of the PC, Ahmed Maiteeq, in Tripoli, that he is in direct contact and coordination with the British government in regards to the transfer of the British visa office from Tunisia to Tripoli to ease the hardship of travel as a first step, in preparation for the resumption of the embassy's work in Libya.

The spokesman for the Local Council of Sirte, Mohammed Al-Amil, confirmed that Sirte Airport had been subjected to vandalism and robbery. Al-Amil added that the thieves stole copper cables and sets of doors and windows. Al-Amil also stated that this is not the first time that damage was done to the airport since its closing down. The Local Council of Sirte had begun maintenance work on the airport, which saw it function in 2014, but renewed clashes during the war to liberate the city from ISIS prevented the completion of the work.

The spokesman of the Municipal Council of Ubari, Khalil Khalifa, confirmed the complete closure of the Ubari power station after all foreign workers departed the country. Khalifa indicated in a press statement that there is no more but a number of Libyan engineers located in the station, pointing to the cessation of all initial operating procedures. Khalifa added that there was no new information concerning the fate of the foreign workers who were kidnapped from the station by an armed group in early November.

The body of Bouzid Al-Aqwri was found with signs of torture and thrown in a garbage dump on Thursday in Suluq town, 53 kilometers to the southeast of Benghazi. Bouzid was abducted from his home in Benghazi about two weeks ago by an armed militia belonging to Dignity Operation. It is worth noting that the brother of Bouzid is an open supporter of the Deputy Minister of Interior Faraj Egaim. Local reports said that supporters of Mahdi Barghathi and Faraj Egaim`s move to join the Presidential Council have all been exposed to threats, kidnappings and assassinations by Khalifa Haftar`s supporters.

An armed group loyal to the chief of Dignity Operation, Khalifa Haftar, kidnapped the chief of so-called Encounter-Terrorism Agency, Captain Salama Asbli, in the town of Marj. Asbli was taken to an unknown destination on charges of dealing with the Deputy Minister of Interior, Faraj Egaim. Local sources said the armed group, believed to belong to the 106th Battalion led by Khalifa Haftar`s son, had taken over the headquarters of the agency and confiscated all the weapons and equipment inside.
