The Mayor of Shwerif Municipality and the head of the Federation of Southern Municipalities, Hassan Gaddafi, stated that a fuel convoy consisting of 17 trucks set off on Friday to the cities of Sabha and Shati after the road became secured. Hassan said in a press statement that shipments will be distributed to petrol stations directly, confirming the selection of a number of stations by the mayors of the municipalities of Sabha, Qardha, El-Shati, Barak and Edri. Southern cities and towns are suffering from a shortage of fuel and its derivatives, after supplies were cancelled from the Misrata depot four months ago due to the lack of security along the Misrata – Jufra – Sabha road.

The Libyan Coast Guard rescued 98 illegal immigrants from various African nationalities after their boat broke down at sea on Friday. The Tripoli Branch of the Anti-Illegal Immigration Agency said that among the migrants were 43 women and 2 children who were accommodated and provided with medical services. The relevant embassies of those who were rescued were contacted so as to identify them and issue temporary documents to facilitate their return to their country. A Libyan Coast Guard patrol also rescued 121 illegal migrants on Thursday including women and children.

The Foreign Minister of Presidential Council, Mohamed Siyala, called on neighboring African countries on Friday to work with his government to protect Libya`s southern border in order to curb the influx of illegal immigrants. During a speech at an international conference on migration hosted by Niger, Siyala said border control will make achievement and great successes in the management of the migration crisis and its serious consequences, pointing out that he is not opposed to migration, but opposes the exploitation of organized crime gangs to achieve profits from human trafficking. He explained that addressing the repercussions of the migration crisis is not limited to the security perspective alone, but should be through a comprehensive vision covering security, humanitarian and development issues. Siyala noted that this achievement of security and stability can only be achieved through the support of EU.

The head of the Tawergha Local Council, Abdul Rahman Shakshak, has declared that the Mayor of Misrata, Mustafa Kerwad promised to return Tawergha IDPs to their town in the coming days. Shakshak added in a press statement on Wednesday that Kerwad stressed at a meeting attended by the Minister of State for Displaced Persons, Yusef Jalala, the continuation of efforts to execute the agreement and the swift return of those displaced from Tawergha. He explained that he had provided United Nations organizations with the number of families living in Qarara al-Qataf and Harawah camps and their living conditions, saying that these organizations seek humanitarian assistance for residents of the camp.

A workshop was held in Misrata on Thursday on the economic and financial reform program in Libya prepared by the Central Bank of Libya. Those present at the workshop discussed the financial and economic crisis faced by the country and its impact on the state and the average citizen's living conditions. The workshop session also covered both foreign and financial monetary reforms and trade reforms. After concluding, the workshop recommended accelerating the implementation of Libya's economic and financial reform program and working to simplify it so that it can be implemented in the short term.

The commander of EUNAVFOR Med Operation Sophia, an EU operation aiming to curb human smuggling, Enrico Credendino, stated on Thursday that the operation wants to accelerate the expansion of the training of the Libyan Coast Guard to help stop the flow of migrants to Italy, explaining that his operation seeks to train between 300 to 500 new recruits this year. Enrico pointed out that they had arrested more than 130 people suspected of being human smugglers, who were then passed on to the Italian authorities, adding that Libya's top human smugglers are acting without any reservations and away from the international authorities.

The head of the Antiquities Authority in Tripoli, Mohamed Faraj, said that negotiations are underway with Spanish authorities to restore Libyan artifacts dating back to the Greek era. Faraj told Xinhua on Thursday that negotiations with the Spanish authorities reached advanced stages after the identification of six pieces stolen from the site of the archeological city of Shahhat in the east Libya. Faraj pointed out that these artifacts have unique features and signs that are only found in Libya, adding that the number of pieces expected to be recovered from Spain could reach up to 25 ones after it was first thought to be 11.

The CEO of Italy's energy group Eni, Claudio Descalzi, has announced that the group has a plan to reduce oil production in Libya. During his presentation of the group's plan for the years 2018-2022 in London, he said that Eni’s oil production in Libya will be reduced from 320,000 barrels per day to 200,000 barrels per day. Descalzi noted that it was not possible to start new projects in Libya during the past eight years, adding that Eni has no plans to leave Libya.

The player was injured in a party in his residence area in Buhadima. Random gunshots are quite popular nowadays in Libya, killing and injuring several people recently.
