Dignity Operation senior leaders declared the capture of the entire Jufra district with all its towns in central Libya, including the strategic Jufra airbase. Seizing control of the city came after Dignity Operation forces, led by Khalifa Haftar, advanced peacefully as Benghazi Defense Brigades (BDB) had pulled out Saturday morning.

An attack took place at dawn, at the Fuwayhat police station in Benghazi by a group of soldiers from the Special Forces unit of Khalifa Hefter’s Libyan National Army. A number of prison officers were wounded in the attack that saw a number of prisoners set free and smuggled from the scene. It is worth noting that a similar incident took place on the Benghazi Security Directorate in the Baraka area by the same military force approximately one month ago, killing an officer and leading to a number of vehicles being stolen, then later fleeing. Khalifa Hefter’s command stated at the time that an investigation would begin on the crime but until now there have been no results or arrests.

Cleaning work commenced in Sirte by The General Company for Cleaning Services. The company began to remove random dumps, street garbage and the accumulation of different remnants of destroyed buildings in residential neighborhoods or beside secondary roads. The head of the management committee for the company said that the cleaning works are continuing even though they have very limited options at their disposal. He also appealed to the Local Government Ministry and Municipal Council to provide the necessary support, pointing out that most of the equipment that the company has had for the last two years including garbage trucks have all been looted or tampered with by elements ISIS as they would use the trucks as booby traps and suicide vehicles in their war against Bunyan AlMarsoos recently.

The head of the Sabratha Military Council, Colonel Taher Al-Gharabli, stated that the decision of the President of the Presidential Council of the UN proposed government to form seven military zones in Libya is a step away from the more important demands of appointing a Chief of Staff. He added that the appointment of such a position is by far the most important step at this critical stage experienced by Libya. Al-Gharabli was quoted as saying “I wished you had assigned a military force instead so as to repel the Egyptian aggression on the city of Derna."

The Libyan Telecommunications Company has announced that telecommunications and Internet services in some eastern cities and regions have failed due to random drilling which hit the fiber optic cable underground. As a result of this incident the services of Libyana Mobile Company, Al Madar Al Jadeed Company and the Libya Telephone Company were all affected. The Libyan Telephone Company confirmed that work is under way to restore communication traffic.

The United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) documented 18 deaths and 50 civilian casualties during the month of May as a result of continuing hostilities throughout Libya. In its report, UNSMIL reported that among the victims were 13 male deceased and 20 injured, Five children were killed, four injured and five women injured. The mission was unable to identify another 20 males and one female who were injured.

The Hamali Brigade, based in Wirshiffana, said that the car explosion in the Zahra area on Thursday evening was a result of ammunition placed dangerously in a car that ignited. The Brigade stated that the occurrence was contrary to reports on social media pages that the car was rigged with a bag ladened with explosives and remotely detonated.

A robbery resulting in the death of one staff member and injury of another occurred as a cash transport mission sent from the Jamhuria Bank in Gharyan to the branch of the same bank in Nesma was attacked. An estimated amount of 500 thousand dinars was stolen in the robbery. The Gharyan Public Prosecutor stated that he ordered the arrest and imprisonment of the bank manager and some staff of the Nesma branch of the Jamhuria Bank on charges of criminal negligence. The arrested manager had carried out the transfer of the cash in his own car without any protection and did not notify the Security Directorate or any other security body of the date that the money was to be transferred so that the necessary security measures could have been taken.

The Minister of Education in the UN proposed government, Othman Abdul Jalil, suspended ten Cultural Attachés and their assistants from their duties in various Libyan embassies abroad. Abdul Jalil requested said attachés and their assistants to return to Libya and appear before an investigation committee within two weeks from the date issued on the letter.
