Head of Wadi Al-Shatii Military Council, southwest of Libya, Colonel Bashir Awaidat Hasnawi and his daughter have been shot dead in Ain Zara district of Tripoli on Friday, in what seems to be a revenge attack.

Tripoli Municipal Council called on displaced persons and families from within the municipality to return to their areas through coordination and communication with the Higher Committee for the Return of Displaced Persons, which was formed by the UN proposed Presidential Council. The Presidential Council pledged on the 29 May to take measures to return the displaced from Tripoli to their homes by the end of Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr, and would do so in coordination with the state security institutions, without restrictions or conditions.

Eight of Khalifa Hefter's forces were killed and 13 others injured as they advanced to take control of the Sooq AlHoot and Sabri areas, in the northern quarter of the city of Benghazi. A spokesman for the special forces of Hefter, Ali Al-Thabet said that six of their forces were killed and two others were wounded as a result of confrontations with the Benghazi Shura Council in Sooq AlHoot and Sabri.

The main water station in the city of Derna has announced the return to normal operation of the second unit. The second unit had been out of service last week because of the absence of the necessary chemicals for water purification. An official said that the decision to restore the unit was based on the notion of providing water to the various neighborhoods and suburbs of the city before the Eid al-Fitr, the problem is that the restocking of the chemicals has yet to reach the station.

The Head of the management committee of Brega Oil Company, Fuad Al-Rahim said on Friday that he has appealed to Mayors and representatives of southern Libyan cities in the House of Representatives as well as officials of the Ministries of the Interior and Defense, security officials of the south and dignitaries to urgently intervene to secure public roads from outlaws who as a result of their actions are causing traffic and fuel tracks drivers to avoid the area which in turn is increasing the daily suffering of the average Libyan citizen.

One of the main electricity lines in Benghazi had stopped on Friday as a result of indiscriminate gunshots coming from inside Al-Hawari cemetery causing the complete separation of the south station. The Head of the Information Office of the General Electricity Company in Benghazi said that the areas south of Benghazi were all affected by this accident as were some other parts of the city, they also appealed to the security services to do a better job at controlling the security situation and to reduce breaches that might cause the interruption of electricity services for the citizens of Benghazi.

The Minister for Education in the UN proposed government, Othman AbdulJalil expressed his intention to request that the Presidential Council help pay the overdue payments owed to students stuck abroad. AbdulJalil explained that the request will include payment of teacher’s expenses, stressing that this is a temporary solution until they return to Libya.

In a statement issued yesterday, Janzur Municipal Council called on both the Ministries of Interior and Defense, to shoulder their responsibilities and abide by their promises to secure the coastal road. The UN proposed government is fully responsible for the security violations that occur on the road, as well as the attack on a security patrol last Thursday which resulted in the death of one officer and injury of another, the statement reads. According to the statement, it was declared that the consequences of these reoccurring security breaches may eventually lead to the road being reclosed.

Tripoli Municipal Council warned that there are underlying dangers at the maritime Corniche area due to a leak found in a protective metal layer underground. The council called for a halt to traffic of vehicles on the Corniche as well as the funfair in an effort to protect the lives of citizens. The Municipal Council issued a warning to all citizens to stay away from the funfair at all costs demanding that security authorities intervene and take all legal precautions and measures to protect the lives of citizens.

The Tajura Immigration Control Agency said that citizens had found five bodies of what is thought to be illegal immigrants on the shores of Tajura. The bodies were found in what is known as the 32 district of Tajura, and following the notification of the find, the Immigration Agency dispatched along with officers from Tajoura police station and the joint operations room to the scene. All relevant actions were then taken by the concerned authorities.

Five people lost their lives in a road accident in the Al-Faraas area, near Derna. Witnesses said three cars were involved in the incident which resulted in the loss of life. One of the cars was said to be carrying a family which at speed crashed into two other trucks. Those on the scene said that the dead and wounded were from the Tobruk and Abyar areas, east of the city of Benghazi.

The spokesman for Al-Bunyan Al-Marsoos operation, Brigadier General Mohammed Al-Ghassari, said that their forces have arrested an ISIS member in the Wadi Bay area. In a media statement, Al-Ghassari said that Al-Bunyan Al-Marsoos command monitored movements of ISIS in a mountainous area 40 kilometers from the city of Wadan, he added that two fuel trucks belonging to Brega Oil Company had been handed back to the company after being seized from ISIS members who had hijacked them earlier.
