The Education Ministry of the UN-proposed government has announced that it has finalised its procedures with the Central Bank of Libya regarding funding for the printing and supply of textbooks for the next academic year.

A source from the High Council of National Reconciliation (HCNR) said they are preparing to leave the eastern region toward Tripoli after being attacked last Tuesday in Al-Bayda by a group from Blood Owners armed group that is affiliated to Khalifa Haftar.

One of domes of Alatig Mosque in the oasis town of Awjila, 400 km south of Benghazi, has collapsed. The Libyan Antiquities Authority has sent a team of archaeologists to the mosque to assess the damage and restart restoration. Alatig Mosque is one of the oldest mosques in North Africa, which bears a unique roofing style through its conical domes that identify the architecture of the city's mosques. It was built at the beginning of the Islamic conquest of Libya.

The head of Al-Kwayfia Respiratory Hospital in Benghazi Anas AlBarghothi, stated that an oxygen production plant has been commissioned inside the hospital, resulting in savings of approximately 115,000 Dinars in the hospital's annual budget. Al-Barghothi also explained that hospital administration had organized work meetings to identify the hospital's requirements and improve medical services, out of which the establishment of the oxygen factory came to light and also future solutions to any remaining problems.

The first stage of the cleanup of the Apollo Spring archaeological site in Shahat, in eastern Libya has been completed. Drainage of ponds, then full deep cleansing from the debris and algae took place. Inscriptions within the ponds on the walls were cleaned then translated by specialists. This campaign is part of a surveillance plan, which is designed to target all sites located within the archaeological site of Qorini.

Libyan football player Mohamed Zabia confirmed that he would return to join his former Libyan team after he decided not to continue the professional experience with the Tunisian team Esperance Sportif De Tunis. Zabia posted on his Facebook page that a few days separated him from returning to his former club Itihad. Zabia said his presence in Algeria now is part of his annual holiday and not to seek any contract with Algerian clubs as rumored.

The first Maghreb nations meeting of sea scouts, is being hosted by Zuwara Municipality in the Abu Keshaf Forest Training Centre. The meeting was launched on Thursday under the theme Scouts on the Libyan Waves. Events at this meeting will continue until July 26, with the participation of several teams from the Maghreb, including Tunisia, Algeria, Morocco and Mauritania, as well as the participation of local teams from Zuwara, Tobruk, Derna, Benghazi, Sirte, Misrata, Tripoli, Jafara and Zawiyah.

After three years off the air, the Libya Sports Channel is preparing to return to the scene after development and modernisation work in the studios is nearing completion. The channel management has upgraded the graphics department and they are in agreement with a company that specializes in the equipping of official studios with programs and news. The management is also upgrading editing devices so as to be ready to broadcast with the beginning of the Libyan football league next August.

Sources in the city of Benghazi have stated that the Public Prosecutor in the city has released Dr. Miftah Jahani and a number of other officials of the Benghazi Medical Centre after completing their investigations into the scandals that shook the centre recently.

The new head of the United Nations support mission in Libya (UNSMIL), Ghassan Salame, Tweeted his expressed joy at the completion of work by the Myanmar Committee, after a long year of hard work. Salame added that this would allow him to devote all his efforts to his new mission to what he described as his dear brotherly people in Libya, describing his future mission as "Difficult and exciting".

A number of elders and dignitaries from the western region were accompanied by a group of citizens of the city of Jadu conducted Friday prayers at the Furqan Mosque in the Nafusa mountains. After prayers they stated their rejection and discontent at signs of sectarian strife among the people of Libya, according to signs and cheers. The delegation, which visited Jadu at the invitation of the Council of Elders, dignitaries, and Warshifana, included representatives from several cities, including Tripoli, Rajban, Zintan, Gharyan, Zawiyah and Sabratha, all expressing solidarity among Libyan people.

The European Commission has announced an additional 10 million Euros for humanitarian aid to those most in need in Libya. The Commission said in its statement that violence and instability is still affecting people in Libya. Part of the European Union's support to Libya is to address the ongoing crisis in the country, which includes a fund of 220 million Euro, allocated through various support programs, including the European Union Emergency Fund for Africa.

The head of the Investigation Unit of the Attorney General's Office, Sadiq Sur confirmed a continuation of investigations into ISIS recruits that were captured in Tripoli by the Special Deterrent Force and also those captured by security forces in Misrata post military operations in Sirte. Sur also said in a statement that investigations have revealed many facts on cases that were previously recorded against unknown assailants, stressing that among the cases he referred to is the assassination of former Attorney General Abdulaziz al-Hasadi and General National Congress member Fareha Berkawi, among others. Sur also said that what will be revealed in the next three weeks will be shocking.
