The Tripoli-based Special Deterrent Force (SDF) has arrested an individual named Al-Mabrouk Ehnish, whom it said is the commander of an armed group that entered Wershiffana district days ago.

The Information Office of Mitiga International Airport has announced that flights to and from the airport resumed to normal as of noon today.

Deputy Minister of Interior at the Presidential Council Faraj Egaiem confirmed on his Facebook page that the deputy chief of central security department in the eastern region Fauzi Dersi had been targeted with an assassination attempt by opening fire on his car in Al-Marij by an armed group affiliated with Al-Marij military police of Haftar’s forces. He added that Colonel Dersi managed to escape the assassination and he is now working as normal at his office.

The director of Sirte Office of Antiquities, Abdel-Azim Hafez, has denied reports released by media outlets of looting antiquities from the ancient city of Sultan, 60 km east of Sirte. In a statement to the Libyan News Agency on Sunday, Hafez said that all the artifacts are in safe hands and with the full knowledge of the Libyan Antiquities Authority and the UNESCO for fear of theft and sabotage due to the current situation in the country. Earlier, environmental activist in Sirte, Saleh Drayagh, confirmed that the two bronze statues of the Philaeni brothers in Sultan town were stolen two years ago.  Drayagh posted in his Facebook page an old photo of the Philaeni brothers and another recent one that shows the theft of the statues. He reckoned that ISIS was behind the theft during their control of Sirte.

The African Minifootball Federation (AMF) has granted Libya the right to organize the 2018 African Minifootball Championship. The decision was taken on the sidelines of the AMF Executive Committee meeting held in Nabeul, Tunisia. The African Minifootball Championship will be held in March.

The Joint Drafting Committee of the House of Representatives and the High Council of State continued its debate in Tunisia for finalizing the amendments to the Libyan political agreement, in the presence of the UN envoy to Libya Ghassan Salame. According to the spokesman of the UN mission, the committee commenced by setting an agenda for this new round of sessions where the fresh meeting focused on the mechanism of selecting the mini Presidential Council, in addition to the competencies and powers of the Presidential Council and the government.

The General Electricity Company has managed to restore power lines to Ghat town in the southern region after three days of blackout due to a defect in power tower 51 on the Obari-Ghat road. The company explained that its maintenance team has been working on power transmission lines in the regions of Ghat and Ubari for more than a month, prior to the operation of the Ubari gas station, the matter which led to almost daily power outages in the two cities.

A military battalion in the southern region has seized nine large trucks at the area of Bir near Alweig district on the border with Chad. The trucks were loaded with around 280 tons of smuggled flour, in addition to other food subsidies and were on the way to Chad when seized.  According to a military source, the trucks were transferred to Qatrun town to take the legal measures needed.

The Sudanese Embassy in Libya issued on Sunday temporary travel documents for its citizens detained at the illegal immigration center in Tripoli. The Illegal Immigration Agency said the Sudanese immigrants are scheduled to return to their country at the end of this week via Mitiga Airport within the voluntary return program sponsored by the International Organization for Migration.

An extensive meeting was held in Zawiya city on Saturday that included the members of the Municipal Council, the Council of Elders, the Security Directorate, officers from the Western Military Zone, the head of the Petroleum Facilities Guard and Chief of Intelligence and representatives of several civil society organizations. The participants discussed the repercussions of Sabratha events and its consequences on the stability of the security situation in the city. They also talked over the mechanism of coordination between all agencies in order to support and activate the security and military establishment and protect the main institutions to spare the city the scourge of war and destruction. Following the meeting, Al- Farouq and Al-Kilani brigades announced their dissolution and handover of their weapons to the Defense Ministry of the Presidential Council.

The Ministry of Ministry of Internally Displaced Persons discussed on Sunday at the Prime Minister's Office in Tripoli the file of the displaced persons of the city of Tawergha with an international expert from the United Nations Development Program (UNDP). The meeting dealt with the challenges facing the return of Tawergha people to their hometown.
