Libya's eastern government, which is based in Al-Bayda and chaired by Abdullah Al-Thanni, has cut ties with Qatar to join Saudi Arabia, UAE, Egypt, Bahrain and Yemen.

An armed group affiliated with Awaqir tribe stormed Al-Kofiya Prison in Benghazi and freed Nuri Bu Fannarah, one of the tribe’s senior leaders, hours after his abduction. Local sources said the Awaqir armed group was led by Faraj Egaim, the commander of so-called Special Tasks Force.

Head of Bayda Appeals Court, Jabril Al-Gadiri, survived an assassination attempt in eastern Marj city on Saunday after gunmen had opened fire on his car, in which there was with him the head of inspection of judicial agencies in Bayda.

Italian Interior Minister, Marco Minniti, told the press that his country had allocated 200 million euros to combat illegal immigration influx from southern Libya, which is also the southern border crossing for Europe. He also said that region is where fighting terrorism and human smuggling should take place. He added that Libya's government should prove its capabilities in controlling its waters and that is why Italy is training Libyan coastguards of Tripoli coast.

Uneasy calm has descended on Al-Zawiya city after yesterday's violent clashes that left five killed and others wounded. Al-Zawiya municipality and elders council announced Sunday that they reached a ceasefire agreement between the two warring armed groups. Also, the Libyan Red Crescent in Al-Zawiya said that it evacuated patients from the city's hospital and took them to Sabratha hospital, plus securing the medics and some families who were caught up in the clashes.

The Education Ministry said 138 students will sit for the final exams for the primary and secondary certificates for this year starting at the beginning of July. Mohammed Al-Arousi, an official at the ministry, said 80.000 students will sit for primary school certificate and 57.000 students will sit for secondary school certificate and they will be distribute it on 2100 examining committees in 49 educational areas.

UN-proposed government's Education Ministry said it will nominate a Libyan candidate for the position of the General Director of the Arab League Education, Culture, Science Organization (ALECSO) in the first meeting for the Arab Education Ministers, asking candidates to apply for the position by sending forth their résumés and having interviews by the ministry.

Sources from Wirshiffana said an armed group opened fire on a checkpoint for Brigade 301 of the Defense Ministry of the UN-proposed government. The brigade thwarted the attack and killed and injured several of the gunmen, according to the sources, not mentioning if the brigade suffered any injuries.

Illegal Immigration Fight Center in Tripoli said they found a truck on the road near Garabulli beach parked for the last two days with 23 immigrants inside and five women plus seven dead bodies, who died of suffocation.
