The Chairman of the Presidential Council, Fayez Al-Sarraj, condemned the attack which took place Sunday night on a makeshift camp for the displaced persons of Tawargha near the area of Qarara Al-Qataf. This came in a statement made by Al- Sarraj on Sunday, which considered the intimidation of families in the camp by some armed groups is reprehensible and unacceptable and aims to undermine the reconciliation between Tawergha and Misrata. The statement clarified that the attackers are the same group who are seeking to undermine the reconciliation process between the two cities, and prefer to see Libya mired in chaos. Al-Sarraj’s statement also called on everyone to assume their responsibilities in this regard, stressing that there will be no room for carelessness to carry out the will of the people of Misrata and Tawergha who look forward to leave the past behind for the sake of a stable and flourishing homeland, according to the statement.

The head of the Misrata-Tawergha Dialogue and Reconciliation Committee, Youssef Al-Zarzah, has confirmed that the delay in the return process of the Tawerghan IDPs to their town is due to contravening the instructions of the town's representatives in the Misrata-Tawergha reconciliation agreement, holding the Local Council of Tawergha and civil society institutions responsible for the return disruption. In a statement on Sunday, Zarzah said that the committee was surprised by the large number of returnees who arrived in one go, viewing it as a breach of the Misrata-Tawergha agreement by the Local Council of Tawergha, and contrary to the security plan, which requires a gradual return of the families. Zarzah insisted that all terms of the agreement should be implemented before resuming the return process.

The Director General of the Central and Eastern regions of Brega Oil Marketing Company and a number of officials of the land transport department of the company met Sunday the representative of Germany’s Mercedes-Benz Company in Egypt and Libya, Salah Al-Zawawi at the headquarters of the Brega Company. Al-Zawawi made a visual presentation that included detailed explanations about Mercedes-Benz’s capabilities in the manufacturing of transport vehicles, specifically trucks and buses, in addition to other services in these disciplines, including providing spare parts of all kinds. During the presentation, he announced the opening of a maintenance center for Mercedes-Benz as well as mobile workshops in the Keesh district of Benghazi. He also revealed that the study is underway to establish a number of maintenance centers in the western region and throughout Libya.

The Municipal Guard of Central Tripoli Municipality has closed a number of bakeries and cafes for violating health and safety procedures and using expired products. Through its Facebook page, the Municipality of Central Tripoli clarified that the competent authorities have taken all legal measures against the violators and suspended the businesses of some of them, in the interest of public health as described. A number of bakeries were seized and closed for violating laws and regulations that protect the health and safety of citizens.

The Fuel and Gas Crisis Committee announced on Saturday that all petrol stations located along the coastal road from Zawiya to Abu Kammash near the border with Tunisia are open and secure. The head of the Committee, Milad Al-Hajrsi, said that eight of the petrol stations will operate 24 hours to help reduce the crisis of fuel shortage in the cities of the western region. He explained that the stations were reopened in coordination with the military forces in-charge of the western region, noting that the stations are equipped with security cameras and emergency numbers to report any violations.

The General Electricity Company (GECOL) said that its maintenance teams have completed repairing the malfunction that caused power outages in some neighbourhoods north of the city of Ajdabiya. The GECOL explained that the disruption was due to a cut in the main cable, which led to a complete darkness in the region on Saturday evening. On its Facebook page, the GECOL pointed out that the maintenance process lasted for twenty-four hours during which the tasked team continued to work until accomplishing the task and restoring the electricity.

Human rights activist, Emadeddin Zahri Muntasser, said in a press statement that significant developments have been made in the complaint file submitted to the US Department of Justice against Khalifa Hafar in his capacity as an American citizen. Muntasser said that the cases brought before the American or international courts must be supported by broad popular movements. He added that such movements will pressure the international political parties that may try to hamper the course of the law. Muntasser revealed that many legal activists are seeking to hold accountable military leaders involved in war crimes in Libya, particularly in Benghazi, but the lack of a mass and permanent movements hinder their endeavors.

Misrata municipality said the Presidential Council bears the responsibility for the delay of the Tawergha IDPs’ return to their city due to announcing February 01 a s a comeback date without coordinating with the concerned parties and thus leading to the delay of finishing of the needed measures to implement the agreement. It also denounced in a Monday statement the media exploitation of the IDPs’ situation for political gains, adding that it is with reconciliation between Tawergha and Misrata and against the attacks against IDPs. The municipality called on the Presidential Council to commit to the implementation of the agreement in a rational and studied way.

The Head of the High Council of State (HCS) Abdelrahman Al-Sweihli received a call from the Foreign Minister of the UK, Boris Johnson and discussed the latest about the UN-led action plan to end the Libyan crisis and the development of the efforts to amend the Libyan Political Agreement (LPA), according to the media office of Al-Sweihli. The UK Foreign Minister stressed the need for pursuing efforts to amend the LPA to form new presidential council and a unity government inclusive off all Libyan parties, while Al-Sweihli confirmed willingness to help make the amendments' efforts succeed, reiterating commitment to the partnership with the House of Representatives as per the LPA.
