The United Nations (UN), the African Union (AU), the European Union (EU), and the League of Arab States (LAS) are scheduled to meet next month to discuss Libya’s situations. The announcement came during the meeting of the Secretary-General of the LAS, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, with the Chairperson of the African Union Commission, Moussa Faki, over to common issues between the two organizations, including the Libyan crisis.  The Spokesman for the Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, Mahmoud Afifi, said that Aboul Gheit and Faki agreed to intensify coordination between the two organizations to support the efforts of establishing security and stability in Libya and to update the political process according to the terms of Skhirat agreement. “The leaders of the Arab League and the African Commission reiterated their commitment to continue their joint efforts within the framework of the Quartet on Libya”, said Afifi

Representatives from the Central Bank of Libya (CBL), the parallel CBL in Al-Bayda, the National Oil Corporation, the Audit Bureau and the Ministries of Finance of the two governments in the country held a meeting in the Tunisian capital at the invitation of the World Bank and the IMF. According to sources, the meeting discussed the unification of state budget for 2018 and the change of Libyan dinar exchange rate. The meeting also reviewed proposals on the state budget, and support and development of non-oil revenues in the country.

The head of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya, Ghassan Salama, said that indiscriminate fighting in residential areas and airstrikes this year resulted in the death or injury of at least 365 Libyans, including 79 children. This came in a statement on the occasion of World Human Rights Day. He added that the country has witnessed scores of violations on an alarming scale, amid the absence of accountability or any legal procedures. Salama expressed his concern over the difficult conditions experienced by patients and medical staff who are working under challenging security situations where 14 health facilities have been attacked this year, adding that his mission had also documented 201 illegal killings.

Derna People Gathering (DPG) denied Sunday the statements released by Ahmida Tarbah, the “mayor” of the city appointed by the military governor of the eastern region, that the siege on the city has been lifted and that food, fuel and humanitarian aid are now flowing into Derna. The coordinator of the DPG, Adel Al-Barasi, said that the situation in the city is still tragic with the closing of seven fuel filling stations and other service companies, which has exacerbated the situation in the city. He also stressed the continuing arrests on identity of Derna's citizens, reiterating his call on the international community to intervene and lift the siege of the city. Ahmida Tarbah is pro-Dignity Operation and he lives out of Derna.

The Governor of Central Bank of Libya, Al-Sadik Al-Kabir, held talks with the British Ambassador to Libya Peter Millett on Sunday over the economic and financial situation in Libya. Both agreed that political stability and ending the state of division, besides ending the role of parallel institutions, is the key to any successful economic and financial program in Libyan, according to the official website of the Central Bank of Libya. Millett confirmed his country's support for the efforts of the Central Bank of Libya and his calls regarding undertaking the necessary economic and financial reforms to face the current financial and economic crisis in Libya.

The Arab League envoy to Libya, Salah al-Din al-Jamali, said that holding new elections in Libya is an opportunity for resolving the political crisis in the country. Jamali stressed the need for concerted efforts of the international community to support local parties and all different factions within Libya so that the elections can take place in the best possible conditions, pointing that the Arab League welcomes the positive political developments in Libya. The action plan proposed by the United Nations to Libya, Ghassan Salama, included new elections in the country in 2018, which the High National Elections Commission later announced in a joint press conference with Salama on Wednesday.

The Medical Supply Authority, Benghazi branch, confirmed that it had received a shipment of specialized drugs and insulin sent from the Tripoli branch. It stated through its press office that the cargos they are receiving respectively represent the share of the eastern region, which is estimated at about 35% of the total costs issued by the General Administration in Tripoli. The distributing process will take place during this week and more details over the quantities and categories will be released at a further time.
