Overhaul works at Derna steam power plant have ended as the technicians of the General Electricity Company repaired the broken down parts so that they managed to provide the city with electricity once again. The power plant was damaged in some parts due to a fire that broke out inside it.

Zintan’s Mayor, Abdulhafeeth Al-Qeeb, said the municipality and the city’s notables had agreed on re-pumping oil from Al-Zawiya refinery and reopening the pipeline of Al-Riyana, which is shut by Zintani gunmen, adding that there has been a coordination with the National Oil Corporation (NOC) to kick off maintenance works as well as pumping oil from the site.

Libyan footballer, Hamdo Al-Masri, scored his first goal in the Portuguese Primeira Liga and became the player who scored the first goal in the league this season. Hamdo scored the opening goal for his team Chaves against Boavista in a game that ended 2-2 in the third round of the Primeira Liga.

Libyan Basketball Federation announced Sunday the beginning of this season’s league, which it said will be in mid-September just after the end of the Super Cup final between Tripoli-based Al-Ahli and Benghazi-based Al-Naser. The basketball league will include 16 teams in two groups each group will include teams from the cities close to each other geographically, the Libyan Basketball Federation added, pointing out that there will be no falling in ranks and no foreign players.

A group of vandals destroyed Sunday the high-pressure towers in Zalaf district, which links Sabha with Wadi Al-Shatee. According to the General Electricity Company’s media bureau in the south, such sabotage acts have become so frequent causing more power outages in the southern districts, knowing that last week people reported an improvement in power provision in the south with less load shedding hours.

HoR member, Mustafa Abu Shagour, criticized the appointment of military governors in the place of the elected civilian mayors and thus turning municipalities into military councils in the east. Abu Shagour added that the goal of this move is to militarize the country so that they can gradually face Libyans with a military coup, pointing out that he is against bringing back the rule of military and dictatorship, which will only gear Libya backward and strip it of any ray of freedom.
