The National Commission for Human Rights in Libya (NCHRL) has condemned the extrajudicial killings and kidnappings going on in the city of Benghazi.

The NCHRL said in a statement that it had documented on January 2, the killing of 50-year-old, Abdul Hakim Al-Majbri, whose body was found in al-Jalaa Hospital in Benghazi, a week after he was kidnapped with his brother Munir from the town centre, noting that his brother's fate remains unknown until the issuing of its statement.

"The ministry of interior of the interim government holds the legal responsibility for these serious crimes and violations," the committee said, calling on the Office of the Attorney General in Benghazi, to open an urgent investigation to uncover the circumstances of the crime and ensure that perpetrators are prosecuted and brought to justice.
