The National Safety Authority of Tripoli has urged people throughout the capital to stay in their homes and to leave only when necessary.
"The Ministry of Education's decision to close schools and universities does not mean going to parks, markets, and public places, or attending social events," the National Safety Authority explained.
It published phone numbers on its official Facebook page, to inquire or request help if needed, advising people to stay at home and take caution, as the spread of the new disease in neighboring countries presents an existential threat to Libya.
