The National Center for Disease Control has confirmed that more than 6,000 children have been immunized against measles and rubella in southern Libya.

The centre explained in its report of September, that around 67 children were immunized in Misurata, east of Tripoli, as well as a number of children in Murzuq south of Libya, after the detection of the disease in some parts of these cities.

"112 cases of suspected measles have been reported, in addition to 21 confirmed cases of rubella b, 5 cases of rubella, and two cases with rubella b/rubella co-infections" the report stated.
