The city of Ghat south-west of Libya is suffering a severe liquidity crisis, where the banks of the city have received no cash since December last year.

Spokesman for the Municipal Council of Ghat, Hassan Issa said in a press statement that there are several causes for this situation, most notably that aircraft coming from the western region were banned by Haftar's forces from landing in the southern airports.

Issa added that the Government of National Accord (GNA) has failed profoundly in addressing the humanitarian situation in the south and Ghat in particular, bearing it the responsibility for the deteriorating humanitarian situation in the city and the lack of liquidity for more than five months.
