The chief of the Information Office of the Anti-Illegal Immigration Agency in Tripoli, Hosni Buayatah, said that about sixty illegal immigrants of Moroccan nationalities have begun an open-ended hunger strike because of the delays by their country to return them back home.

In a press statement, Buayatah said that a delegation from the Moroccan embassy visited the immigrants last month to take personal photographs of the migrants and fingerprint, in preparation for issuing temporary travel documents that will allow them to leave the Libyan territory.

He pointed out that the repatriation process of the Moroccan migrants, which was scheduled to take place before the month of Ramadan was hampered, explaining that the hunger strike was because of their long stay in the detention centers.
