The General Electricity Company of Libya (GECOL) said the General Director of the company Mohammed Ismaiel assumed work on Monday at GECOL headquarters in Tripoli, saying this comes as part of the Prime Minister's decision No.286 of 2022.

The Libyan PM suspended on June 26 the board of directors of GECOL and referred them to administrative investigation, appointing the director of public services company Mohammed Ismaiel as temporary General Director to work under his direct supervision.

The PM retracted the suspension of the board on Sunday. On Monday, he said the decision to reinstate the board of GECOL was due to technical reasons and for a temporary period, adding that his government will form a new board on July 17.
