The Man-made River Authority (MMRA) has said that it had replaced the damaged power transformer in the Hassawna System of Jafara Basin, after it was exposed to vandalism acts.

"Water has been restored to cities and is flowing in a steady stream after reactivating the wells supplied by the power transformer in Hassawna System," MMRA explained.

Earlier, the MMRA announced the exposure of Hassawna Water System to looting and sabotage by unknown individuals during the month of October, pointing out that the damage hit a power converter and cables in the eastern field, which in turn, disrupted the supplies to 36 wells and resulted in the loss of one hundred and forty thousand cubic meters per day of water.
