The member of the Libyan Presidential Council of the Government of National Accord Ahmed Mitig has discussed with the acting head of the UNSMIL Stephanie Williams the need for military deescalation in Sirte and reopening oil ports as well as fields for production and exports.

The two reiterated in a telephone conversation the importance to reach a permanent ceasefire agreement and to resume political negotiations under the umbrella of Berlin conference conclusions.

Mitig blamed the forces in the oil facilities for the security of oil sector and the fields and ports' safety as they harbor materials that can easily explode. He and Williams also discussed Central Bank of Libya's auditing process.
