Locals from Misurata issued a statement Saturday, following a meeting called for, by the Municipality of Misurata on the events in Tripoli, in which they reaffirmed their categorical rejection of injustice, corruption, and terrorism, stressing their support for any step to make the capital free from armed groups and to take down corrupt politicians who put their personal interest ahead of the citizens they were meant to protect.

The participants insisted that Tripoli is the capital of all Libyans and should not be beyond the authority of the state.

They also blamed the Presidential Council for the exacerbation of the security and economic crises, stressing their support for a civil state based on institutions and respect of law.

"Any internal or external act, contacts or communications emanating from any political entities or individuals who claim to represent the city of Misurata, represent no one but themselves," the statement stressed.
