The Chief of the Misrata Security Directorate, Brigadier General Tariq Al-Faqih, has resigned from his post, citing negligence by the residents and the Presidential Council toward the security apparatuses in the city.

"Threats, media campaigns, claims of betrayal and so on against the security apparatuses were all reasons behind my resignation." He said, warning that the city could reach a worse security situation if the security department is not well supported.

Al-Faqih also accused the Presidential Council of abandoning the security directorate in a shameful way, disclosing that some PC members extorted the directorate in return of providing it with the funding it needed.
