Ministry of Justice has affirmed the competence of the Libyan judiciary in considering the charges against Saif Gaddafi, reiterating its adherence to the absolute sovereignty of the Libyan state with respect to pursuing its citizens and not to recognize the competence of any other court to try any Libyan citizen, regardless of his political orientation.

The ministry added in an official statement that its presence before the International Criminal Court (ICC) at The Hague was to emphasize the Libyan judiciary's right to consider this case.

It called on the defence of Saif Gaddafi to bring him before the Libyan judiciary, if they really believe he deserves a general amnesty, and prove the conditions that give him the right for pardon.
