The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Justice for Human Rights Affairs Khaled Negm has condemned the assassination attempt on Minister of Justice Halima Abdul Rahman.
The Undersecretary's office disclosed that a car intercepted the minister's convoy in the Sawani area south of Tripoli on Friday before the gunman got out of the vehicle and fired at the minister's convoy.
"This is a criminal and cowardly act, aimed at violating the official state institutions, hindering the wheel of progress, and discouraging the ministry's employees."
The statement further called on the relevant security services to follow up on the matter and "strike with an iron fist the perpetrator" and bring them to justice.
