The Ministry of Interior confirmed that it had given clear instructions to all of its forces to totally disengage from all internal fighting, which may lead to the undermining of the capital’s security.

In a statement on Saturday, the ministry noted that Friday's clashes in Tripoli could possibly undermine the peaceful political process by introducing security challenges at this sensitive stage of affairs.

The ministry called on the security services to exercise patient restraint, to protect the rule of law and offer priority to the language of reason over that of weapons, whilst calling on all sides to rally around the official unified Government of National Unity (GNU), supporting its efforts towards security, peace, and stability, by rejecting schemes of chaos and violence and working towards holding the elections without obstacles.
