The Ministry of Interior called on security institutions to establish a weapon licensing department, to be dedicated to the issuance of firearms licenses for handguns of all varieties, with focus on accepting applications for issuing the licenses.
The Ministry of Interior of the Government of National Unity (GNU) has demanded than any individual, carrying an unlicensed weapon must immediately deliver it to the nearest police station, within a maximum period of one month from the date of the decision, which was announced on May 11.
Meanwhile, the Ministry also called on the security directorates to initiate this special weapons license department immediately, asking them to focus on the issuance of licenses for initially handguns of all kinds, however to also activate a mechanism for submitting applications for approval of licenses for the weapons when applications are deemed in order.
