The Interior Ministry announced on Sunday the establishment of a Child and Family Protection Office and to open sections in all security directorates across the country.

The ministry explained on its Facebook page that the purpose of establishing this office is to prevent abuse of children and families, such as violence and exploitation, in accordance with the international conventions ratified by Libya.

The Interior Minister Fathi Pashagha announced after taking office earlier this October that he will develop a human rights department in the ministry.
