The Ministry of Interior announced the establishment of the "Office of Human Rights Affairs" which its administrative subordination will be to the Minister of Interior directly.

"The office will work throughout the country and will investigate human right abuses committed by any employee of the Ministry's departments and other concerned institutions not attached to the Ministry of Interior," the ministry explained in a statement.

The ministry added that the office will follow up all reports on human rights violations in Libya, in order to take the necessary action, including the reports of local and international human rights organizations.
