Al-Kanyat, a militia group from Tarhuna within the ranks of warlord Khalifa Haftar’s armed groups, released Libya Al-Alhrar TV journalist Mohammed Al-Gurj and Mohammed Al-Shibani on Friday after 22 days of abduction in south Tripoli.

The two journalists were abducted on May 2 while covering south Tripoli clashes.

The incident was strongly condemned by the local and international community with demands for their release, notably by the UN Mission and Reporters Without Borders.

The militia group released them after tribal mediation from Zintan, the hometown of the two journalists.
