A source close to the team representing the Government of National Accord (GNA) in the 5 + 5 committee, confirmed the start of communications between the committee from the two sides, along with the United Nations delegate.
However, the source said that they are adhering to their previous conditions to resume the dialogue on certain conditions which include: the return of the displaced citizens to their homes, the withdrawal of Haftar militias to their positions prior to April 4, 2019 and the removal of Khalifa Haftar from any leadership position.
The source, who wished to remain anonymous, indicated that the discussions by the 5 + 5 committee would begin shortly and that their return to negotiations comes as a direct result of the Government of National Accord’s wish to avoid the bloodshed of its innocent civilians and the consideration of the welfare of the Libyan Army Forces.
