The German Chancellor, Angela Merkel, discussed with the Maltese Prime Minister, Robert Abela, the latest developments in the Libyan crisis, along with the situation of migration in the Mediterranean region.

This came during a virtual video meeting, in which the two parties discussed several issues of mutual interest, according to a statement issued by the German government.

The statement added that the discussions had spotlighted the necessity for a political solution in Libya, exempt from external interference, stressing that the two parties had agreed on the importance of a cohesive desire for a satisfactory settlement from all member states of the European Union.
