The US Embassy ambassador and Special Envoy to Libya, Richard Norland, and the Presidential Council (PC) Chairman, Mohammed Menfi, have confirmed their shared commitment to holding the elections, due to be held in December, on time.

In a phone call, both sides stressed the need for the elections to be carried out through professional performance all around and on time, in order to meet the expectations of all Libyan citizens whose hopes are to hold free and fair elections, according to the US Embassy.

Norland and Menfi called on all parties in the country to refrain from any mobilization, which may be seen as escalating or undermining the implementation of the ceasefire agreement, which was concluded on October 23, 2020.
