The head of the General Authority for Culture, Hassan Ownis, said that the authority is currently preparing a memorandum to criminalize libel speech in the Libyan media.
Ownis said in a press statement on Wednesday that the memo consists of 15 points, representing a media charter to reject misleading news, hatred, violence and extremism.
Ownis added that the Libyan media scene has witnessed many attempts to develop a code of honor that controls the press and media discourse, but has not been successful so far.
