In a meeting on Friday with the UN envoy, Ghassan Salame, in Tunis, 22 mayors and heads of local councils of the western region called on Libyan interlocutors and the UN Mission in Libya to exclude the controversial figures who had a negative impact on the political life in the country.

In a statement on Saturday, the mayors said that municipalities should be involved in the amending of the political agreement as the matter relates to public affairs, security and stability, and to assist in its implementation, demanding the UNSMIL to provide genuine guarantees for the implementation of the agreement and its amendments.
