The mayors of 29 municipalities have called on the Presidential Council (PC) to reconsider the sums allocated to the municipalities for confronting the coronavirus epidemic.

In a meeting on Thursday, with the Governor of the Central Bank of Libya, the mayors agreed to fix the current exchange rate of foreign currency with respect to the import of goods.

The supplying companies will be obliged to bear the costs of transportation to remote municipalities, so as to ensure that goods are sold at affordable prices, while a mechanism will be established to follow up on the process.

The mayors also demanded that commodity supplies are to be provided urgently, under the supervision of municipal councils.
