Member of the Municipal Council of Qatrun, Omar Omaroua said that the self-styled army of Hafter had gained control of the city located in the far southwestern part of the country.

"Leaders of Hafter's forces met with a number of the locals to discuss securing the border strip with Niger and Chad," Omaroua said in a press statement Saturday, pointing out that the city is suffering poor service and not security.

Hafter's self-styled army declared earlier their control over towns of Umm Al Aranib, Ghat, and Awaynat, in the southern part of the country.

Most of the areas were taken by Hafter’s groups after agreement with local people.
