The Mayor of Central Tripoli, Abdel-Raouf Beit Al-Mal, called on Sunday the anti-coronavirus supreme committee to review the banning of some businesses from work, as part of the measures to tackle the coronavirus outbreak in the country.

Beit Al-Mal said that Libya has witnessed lower coronavirus infections compared with many other countries around the world, pointing out that the ban has been on for too long and is becoming a heavy burden on professionals and small businesses that might be the only source of income for many families.

He expressed hope that the anti-coronavirus supreme committee would take into account the humanitarian aspect and reconsider easing the measures, standards, and conditions, in terms of the ban imposed on some trade activities, and to allow small businesses and specified professions to open outside the curfew hours.
