The Maltese authorities have arrested five migrants believed to be behind the seizure of a vessel from off the coast of Libya among the 100 migrants who were on board.

A Maltese special operations team intervened as the ship approached Malta and communicated with the captain, who confirmed that he does not control the ship, according to the "Malta Today" website.

The rest of the migrants were disembarked at Valletta and later transferred to a migrant's shelter.
