Prime Minister of Malta, Joseph Muscat has called for greater cooperation with the United Nations in order to resolve the Libyan crisis.

Muscat said Friday during the 6th South EU Summit in Malta that the escalation of violence in Libya poses a threat to the stability of his country and the region, which in turn, would contribute to increasing the threat of terrorism.

He also praised the role of the Libyan Coast Guard in combating illegal migration.
