Malta has appointed its former prison chief, Alex Dalli, as the special government representative in Libya, to handle national security issues, including illegal migration.
“The appointment of Dalli was based on his extensive experience in the armed forces”, the Maltese Minister of Interior, Byron Camilleri said, adding that he will also participate in the migration coordination center, as part of the agreement signed between the two countries in May 2020 on tackling illegal migration, according to the Times of Malta.
