The member of the Presidential Council, Ahmed Maiteeq, arrived in Russia to hold meetings with officials in Moscow on solutions to the Libyan crisis, sources close to Maiteeq reported Thursday.

The Russian Foreign Ministry also announced earlier Thursday that Maiteeq would visit Moscow to meet with the Foreign Minister, Sergey Lavrov, to discuss developments of the Libyan status quo.

Russian Foreign Ministry's spokeswoman, Maria Zakharova, told reporters the meeting between Maiteeq and Lavrov will take place on Friday to discuss cooperation between Libya and Russia as well as political settlement in the country.
