The UN Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) said the UN acting envoy Stephanie Williams facilitated Monday the second virtual meeting of the Libyan Political Dialogue Forum’s Legal Committee, adding that discussions focused on legislative and legal foundations necessary for holding national elections in December 2021.
UNSMIL said in a statement that the Head of High National Election Commission in Libya Emad Al-Sayeh attended the meeting and briefed on the progress in the HNEC's work.
UNSMIL also said that Al-Sayeh briefed the meeting on the technical preparedness necessary for the holding of the national elections on 24/12/2021, and on the basis of electoral legislation that should be adopted in the coming period.
