The stealing of 900-meters-long transmission power lines has left large parts of Sawani Municipality without electricity, the General Electricity Company of Libya (GECOL) reported.

The company added in a statement on Friday that another unknown group had sabotaged the high-pressure lines in Mamoura district and stole wires estimated at a distance of 1700 meters, leading to blackout in several parts of the area.

GECOL urged security authorities to intervene and stop such attacks on the power stations, especially in areas of Jafara and Zliten.
