The Secretary-General of the Libyan National Commission for Education, Culture and Science (LNCECS), Abdel-Moneim Aboulaiha, has said that the education in Libya is going through a difficult period as a result of the war that destroyed entire educational institutions, as well as causing damage to others.

In his address in the 40th session of the General Conference of UNESCO in Paris, Aboulaiha said that the situation in Libya poses a challenge to the international community.

"The situation in Libya requires serious efforts led by the UNESCO in order to help Libya emerge from this crisis, especially as the war had cast a shadow on the archaeological areas that have been looted and robbed constantly," he said.
