Member of the Libyan Society for Environmental Development, Sabri Al-Talbi, has warned of ignoring the threats to marine animals.

In a statement to Al-Araby Al-Jadeed, Al-Talbi pointed out that the Libyan coast is teeming with species of rare and endangered marine creatures, saying that there are about 500 species of fish that have left the Libyan shores due to pollution resulting from landfills and sewage pipes.

Al-Talbi added that fishermen's explosives can be among the causes, as well as weather factors, but it cannot be ignored that pollution is among the main causes.
