The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aqila Saleh, arrived in Rome Thursday and met with the Italian Parliament Speaker, Roberto Fico, and discussed bilateral relations and cooperation between the two parliaments.

The Libyan House of Representatives said in a statement that Saleh had hailed the role of Italy in support of political solutions and stability in Libya, discussing the latest developments and the political process, while the Italian Parliament Speaker reiterated the importance of holding Libyan elections in December.

Saleh is expected to meet with the Italian Foreign Minister Luigi di Maio. On Tuesday, the Head of the Presidential Council, Mohammed Menfi, is supposed to arrive in Rome as well.
