The National Commission for Human Rights in Libya (NCHRL) has held the conflicting parties in the southern city of Sabha responsible, legally, nationally, humanitarian and socially for the security, safety and life of civilians.

The NCHRL called on all parties to the conflict in the city to immediately stop the violence and exercise restraint and wisdom to resolve the problem.

The NCHRL said expressed concerns about the deterioration of humanitarian, living and medical conditions in Sabha as a result of the continuing and escalating acts of tribal violence.

The human rights groups said that fighting in the city that targeted civilians, neighbourhoods and civilian facilities is a war crime, under international humanitarian law, and called on elders and notables from all Libyan cities along with the Reconciliation Council of Dignitaries in Libya to intervene urgently to push the ceasefire and create calm to heal the rift between the conflicting parties.
