The Libyan Delegation to UNESCO expressed its deep concern over the damage caused to the historical castle of Sabha due to the recent events in the city.

 The delegation expressed in a statement its deep alarm at the destruction and the serious damage done to the outer walls of the castle and some of its architectural form, calling for the neutralization of all archaeological and historical landmarks from the conflict in the city to spare them any other damage in line with international laws and conventions for the protection of sites and monuments in times of armed conflict, according to the Libyan News Agency.

The Libyan Delegation to UNESCO also expressed concern about the negative impact of such events on the educational process in the region.
